Instructions Sensor AC Voltmeter

This SNMP compatible AC Voltmeter is suitable for all networked infrastructure monitoring devices from Didactum. This smart AC Voltmeter is mounted on DIN rail.

Typical applications of this AC Voltmeter for DIN rail are:

  • Detection and measurement of current from 0V to 250V AC
  • Detection of overloads / current AC voltage fluctuations
  • Monitoring of the AC voltage supply and notification in case of power failure
  • Power control of unmanned remote sites

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery of the AC Voltmeter consists of the following components:

  • 1* AC Voltmeter for DIN rail mounting
  • 1* DIN clip
  • 1* 2 meter RJ11 patch cable (6P4C)

Dimensions:

Mounting the AC voltmeter on DIN top-hat rail

Important notes:

Please observe the applicable rules and safety regulations for electrical work. Engage an electrical company or a trained electrician. Please also observe the regulations for accident prevention and the applicable occupational safety, operating and safety regulations.

Connection to the SNMPv1/v2c/v3 compatible measuring device

The RJ11 patch cable included in the scope of delivery is connected to the sensor port (OUT). The other end of the cable is connected to a free analog sensor port of the SNMPv1/v2/v3 enabled Didactum Monitoring Systems of the model series 50 / 100 / 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 700. Please note that the monitoring unit must be purchased separately. With the support of the auto identification function, this AC Voltmeter for DIN rail mounting is automatically detected by the web-enabled monitoring system and displayed in the webGUI.

Configuration of the networked AC Voltmeter

Log in with Google Chrome, Safari or Mozilla Firefox on the Didactum Monitoring System. In the web interface under "System Tree" you will find the AC voltage rail in the item "Autodetect".

Hysteresis function of the AC Voltmeter for DIN-rail

All networked infrastructure monitoring systems from manufacturer Didactum offer a proven hysteresis function. This function is useful for fluctuating measurement states, where, for example, the sensor permanently switches between the states "normal" and "warning". With the support of this hysteresis feature, we avoid a large number of notifications and alarm messages. For various sensors it is possible to define such a hysteresis state. The hysteresis feature can represent a time period or a sensor value. If desired, this hysteresis function can also be deactivated. If a time (in seconds) is defined for the hysteresis, the intelligent sensor of Didactum will switch with a delay to the new state. The time counting starts from the moment when the reading has left the current range. If the type "value" is used in the hysteresis function, the new sensor state (Normal / Warning) is reported by the measuring and monitoring device only when the defined value has been undercut or exceeded.

Alarm in case of overload, voltage drop or power failure

The SNMP compatible remote measurement and alarm devices from Didactum monitor the power supply within the critical infrastructure. Notifications and alarms are signaled by SNMP traps, e-mail, SMS (via LTE or GSM modem), relay switching or alarm siren.

How to set up notifications and alarms is shown here.

A direct remote polling of the AC voltmeter data via SNMP Get command is supported. For this purpose, this smart IP sensor offers an SNMP OID. In addition, the measurement data collected in real time is stored with the data logger of the monitoring system. A visualization function is available directly in the German language WebGUI. With a mouse click, the measurement data is loaded from the device and can be further processed for analyses and audits. Important events such as overvoltage, voltage dip or power failure are stored in the syslog of the monitoring system.
